Ok…. So you know there is what you believe…. You subscribe to a particular view, you desire to apply it, you advise people based on what you believe you believe… Kind of the person described in Romans 2:17-20- “But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast in God and know his will and approve what is excellent, because you are instructed from the law; and if you are sure that you yourself a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth—
Everything is going well, you know it… You look the part…
But what happens when that word is tested…. Ever being in that place where you are a walking oxymoron, a hypocrite, wondering if you are actually saved! I know our salvation is not on our works but then again the word says in Matthew 7:17- that every good tree brings forth good fruit but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. It goes on to say a good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that doesn’t bring forth good fruit will be. It down and thrown into fire. Vs 20 says “WHEREFORE BY THEIR FRUITS YE SHALL KNOW THEM.”
we recently had a conference at the church I belong to- SALEM INTERNATIONAL CHRISTIAN CENTRE! At this conference everything God has been drawing my attention to was confirmed by my Bishop and Archbishop. What I want to home in on is…. If you knowing what God requires of you, having walked with God for a while keep producing fruits that is not consistent with repentance… If you with your reputation as a mighty man/woman of God keeps seeing more works of the flesh than the fruit of the spirit….does that mean you don’t believe?
Could it be that what you held on to as belief was merely a mental assent than true belief…look at Peter… He had walked with God for a while… He was soooo sure he wouldn’t deny Christ.. I’m sure it wasn’t his intention and could not see the possibility. But then when it was crunch time… He denied Christ three times so much so that he went back to what he was doing before Christ called him.
Going back to Romans 2:21-24″you then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal? You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law. For, as it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”
Now there is no doubt that there are wolves in sheep clothing but I personally believe that some people are not reproducing Christ likeness because they have forsaken the fountain of living water…just carelessness… Forsaking the source of the light. If you cut off the source of light.. You will go back to darkness.
What am I saying.. We can’t stop working out our salvation with fear and trembling. It is dangerous to get too busy to fellowship with the Holy Spirit.. It is life threatening…
Bishop David made a statement that caught me this weekend, he said Jesus died to birth new creations… Are you a new creation or are you still working after the old man? That got me thinking.. Are old things really passed away, has all become new or am I just practicing behavioural modification?
I don’t want God’s name to be blasphemed, I don’t want to have a reputation of being alive but be dead, I don’t want to be a sign post, showing people the way but never getting there.
Its so easy to become careless and excuse ourselves from dealing with that weight or sin that so easily besets.
How do we do this?
boy! Now that’s a question— I believe it’s all knowing God. Paul gave Timothy great advice in 2 Timothy 3:14 “but continue thou in the things which thou has learned and has been assured of knowing of whom thou hast learned them… He goes on to encourage Timothy to stay on the Word because it is “given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
Don’t you want to be thoroughly furnished! Don’t you think it’s possible for you to live a life free from the bondage of sin….see WITH GOD NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE..you don’t have to live in condemnation, sin no longer has dominion over you unless you give it the power.
Strengthen connection to God… Don’t forsake the Word, Worship, Prayer….
The devil is trying to sabotage you (archbishop Sam Amaga)- those words are so true but in order for him to succeed you have to agree with him. The Word tells us that if we sow to our flesh we will reap corruption but if we sow to the spirit we will reap life. It’s not that the temptations are greater than God, it’s usually that our spirit man is usually too malnourished to stand against the wiles of the enemy.
we can’t afford to be unguarded…that’s why Jesus said we should watch less we fall into temptation. Please don’t stay silent…if you feel weak in your spirit go to a brother and sister in Christ that you trust to help build you up, go to your men and women of God, first and foremost go to God and ask for HELP! It’s better to loose face with man than die spiritually. Iron sharpens iron!
Whatever you do, don’t sit in silence and do nothing. If you see someone in the physical unable to breath, you wouldn’t stand and do nothing, would you? Even if you don’t know how to resuscitate the least you could do is call for help. God has not left you helpless in this world.. You have the Holy Spirit as well as the family of God.
whatever you do… Refuse to die spiritually… Fight the good fight of faith… Receive the end of your faith…the salvation of your soul. DON’T LET THE REAL YOU DIE! YOUR SPIRIT MAN IS THE REAL YOU…WASH IT, FEED IT, BUILD IT UP!
